Can AI Body Double You? Here's What the Research Actually Says

A 2025 study by Ara and colleagues had adults with ADHD complete a task under three conditions: alone, alongside a human body double, and alongside an AI body double. Both forms of company beat working alone on speed, accuracy, and sustained attention. The AI condition came close to the human one.

A separate 2024 study gave college students with ADHD a robot study companion. After a week, the vast majority chose to keep using it, which is an unusually high adoption rate for anything in this space.

And FLOWN, a virtual body doubling platform, tracked 117 adults with suspected or diagnosed ADHD over 12 weeks. Sustained focus more than doubled on average, and reported anxiety dropped.
